Cosmetic Dentistry

WHAT IS COSMETIC DENTISTRY?

Cosmetic dentistry is dentistry aimed at creating a positive change to your teeth and to your smile, We believe that esthetic dentistry must complement the overall general and oral health of the patient.

DENTAL BONDING

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure in which a tooth-colored composite resin material is applied to your teeth to improve your smile. Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained or have spaces between them.

TREATMENT

The tooth is prepared for the procedure by lightly etching the surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape by the dentist. Once set, the resin is trimmed, smoothed and polished to a natural appearance.

The lifespan of bonding materials for the teeth depends on how much bonding was done and your oral habits. Typically, however, bonding material lasts from three years up to about 10 years

The bonding procedure can often be completed in a single office visit and give your smile a whole new look and increase your confidence.

DENTAL PORCELAIN

Dental porcelain laminates(sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Veneers are more costly than composite resin bonding. Veneers are usually not repairable should they chip or crack. Because enamel has been removed, your tooth may become more sensitive to hot and cold foods and beverages.

No, porcelain veneers do not ruin your natural teeth! In fact, they are designed to fit over your teeth and enhance their naturally beautiful appearance. This means that having the veneers attached does not ruin or hurt your teeth. It can last 10 to 15 years.
